Terms of Service
Effective October 15, 2026
1. Agreeing to these Terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Soup Dumpling Software LLC, an Arizona limited liability company based in Maricopa County, Arizona ("Soup Dumpling Software", "we", "us" or "our"). They cover the Lantara: A Republic Rises game on any device, its updates and online features, and the playlantara.com website (together, the "Game").
By tapping Agree in the Game, or by downloading, installing, playing or otherwise using the Game, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.
Please read Section 17 carefully. It requires you and us to resolve most disputes by individual binding arbitration instead of in court, and it waives your right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days, as Section 17 explains.
2. Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old to play. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must read and agree to these Terms for you, and they are responsible for your use of the Game, including any purchases.
You may not use the Game if you are barred from doing so under the laws that apply to you.
3. Your license to play
As long as you follow these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to download and play the Game for your own noncommercial entertainment on devices you own or control, as allowed by the rules of the app store you got it from.
The Game is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights, title and interest in the Game and everything in it, including its code, characters, art, music, story and names. Any rights we do not expressly grant you are reserved.
Unless the law allows it despite this limit, you may not copy, modify, translate, sell, rent, lend or sublicense the Game; reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract its source code; remove any copyright or other notices; or use the Game, or any content from it, to build a competing product or to train or improve any artificial intelligence or machine learning system.
4. Buying the Game
Lantara is sold for a one-time price through the app store you download it from (for example, the Apple App Store), and the purchase is governed by that store's terms, payment methods and refund policy. The Game has no in-app purchases and no ads. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Prices are set in your app store, which may add taxes. Purchases are charged to the account signed in to your device, so please use your device's parental controls if a child uses it. Refunds are handled by your app store, not by us. We may change the price at any time, but a change will not affect a purchase you have already completed.
5. Saves, iCloud and Game Center
Your games and progress are saved on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, the Game also keeps your saved games and unlocks in your own iCloud account, so you can carry on from another iPhone or iPad. If two devices play the same saved game, the newest save wins.
If you are signed in to Game Center, the Game posts your weekly Speed Run results to a leaderboard, where other players can see your Game Center name and time, and records your achievements.
If you delete the Game, reset your device or sign out of iCloud, your progress may be lost, and we may not be able to restore it.
6. Rules of play
We want the Game to be a kind, calm place. When you use it, you agree not to:
- break any law, or help anyone else break one;
- cheat, or use bots, mods, hacks, exploits, automation or any other unauthorized software or method to gain an advantage, such as on the Speed Run leaderboard;
- take advantage of bugs or glitches instead of reporting them to us;
- interfere with, disrupt, overload or try to gain unauthorized access to the Game, its servers or other players' accounts or data;
- create names or other Player Content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, violent, discriminatory, defamatory, or that infringes anyone's rights or shares anyone's personal information;
- pretend to be someone else, including us or anyone who works with us;
- use the Game for any commercial purpose, including advertising or selling anything, without our written permission.
If you break these rules, we may remove leaderboard scores or achievements gained unfairly, or suspend or end your access to the Game, as described in Section 13.
7. A work of fiction
Lantara: A Republic Rises is a work of fiction. Its island, nations, peoples, parties, characters and history are invented. It deals with serious themes, including colonial rule, riots, natural disasters, emergency laws and political choices that hurt some people to help others. They are there to make the choices matter. Nothing in the Game is a statement about any real country, community, person or event, or advice of any kind, political, financial or otherwise.
8. Health and safety
Photosensitive seizure warning. A very small number of people may have a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people with no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these seizures while playing. If you or anyone in your family has ever had seizures or epilepsy, talk to a doctor before playing. Stop playing right away and see a doctor if you feel dizzy, have blurred or changed vision, eye or muscle twitches, loss of awareness, disorientation, or any involuntary movement or convulsion.
Take regular breaks, play in a well lit room, and be aware of your surroundings. Never play while driving or doing anything else that needs your full attention.
9. App stores and platform services
The Game may rely on services run by other companies, such as your app store, Game Center, your platform cloud account and your device's operating system. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
If you got the Game from the Apple App Store, you and we also agree that:
- these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple Inc. ("Apple"), and we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the Game and its content;
- your license is limited to using the Game on Apple branded devices you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions;
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the Game;
- if the Game fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) of the Game to you; to the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the Game, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent these Terms do not disclaim them;
- we, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims by you or anyone else relating to the Game or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the Game fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws;
- if anyone claims that the Game or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim;
- you confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States government embargo or that has been designated by the United States government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
- you must comply with any third party terms that apply when using the Game; and
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third party beneficiary.
10. Changes to the Game and to these Terms
We are always working on the Game. We may add, change or remove features and content, and we may release updates that you need to install to keep playing. We may also stop offering the Game, or parts of it, at any time.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will let you know, for example in the Game or on this page, and we may ask you to agree to the new Terms before you keep playing. The "Effective" date at the top shows when these Terms last changed. If you do not agree to the new Terms, stop using the Game. Changes to Section 17 follow the special rule in Section 17.10.
11. Our content and your feedback
Lantara, Soup Dumpling Software and their logos, characters and names are our trademarks and copyrighted works. You may not use them without our written permission, except to talk about or share the Game in a personal, noncommercial way.
If you send us ideas, suggestions or other feedback, we may use them for any purpose without paying you or owing you anything.
12. Copyright complaints
We respect the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe something in the Game infringes your copyright, send a notice to our copyright agent at [email protected] or by mail to the address in Section 21. Your notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- a description of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed;
- a description of the material you believe is infringing and where it appears in the Game;
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
We may remove the material and, in appropriate cases, end the access of players who repeatedly infringe.
13. Ending these Terms
You can stop playing and end these Terms at any time by deleting the Game from your devices.
We may suspend or end your access to the Game, or to any feature of it, if we reasonably believe you broke these Terms, if the law requires it, or to protect other players or the Game. We may also end these Terms if we stop offering the Game. When these Terms end, your license ends, and you may lose your progress without a refund, except where the law requires otherwise.
Sections 3 (the limits on use), 9, 11, 12 and 14 through 21 survive the end of these Terms.
14. Disclaimers
THE GAME IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, SOUP DUMPLING SOFTWARE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NONINFRINGEMENT AND QUIET ENJOYMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE GAME WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR FREE, SECURE OR FREE OF VIRUSES, THAT YOUR PROGRESS WILL NEVER BE LOST, OR THAT ANY DEFECT WILL BE CORRECTED.
Some places do not allow certain warranties to be disclaimed, so some of these disclaimers may not apply to you.
15. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, SOUP DUMPLING SOFTWARE AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, PROGRESS OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE GAME OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD SUCH DAMAGES WERE POSSIBLE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE GAME OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE GAME IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US $100).
Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
16. Your responsibility to us
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Soup Dumpling Software and its members, managers, employees and contractors from any claims, losses, damages and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your Player Content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of anyone else. This does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by our own negligence or misconduct.
17. Resolving disputes: binding arbitration and class action waiver
This section applies if you live in the United States, or anywhere else where it is allowed by law. It limits how disputes between you and us are resolved. Please read it carefully.
17.1 Talk to us first
Most concerns can be solved quickly. Before starting any arbitration or court case, you and we each agree to try to resolve the dispute informally. The person raising the dispute must send a written notice to the other side, describing the dispute and the relief wanted, with the sender's name, contact details and, for you, the email address you use with us if any. Send notices to us at [email protected] or to the address in Section 21. We will send notices to you at any contact details we have for you. If the dispute is not resolved within 60 days after the notice is received, either side may start arbitration. Any deadline to bring a claim is paused while this informal process runs.
17.2 Agreement to arbitrate
You and Soup Dumpling Software agree that any dispute, claim or controversy between you and us arising out of or relating to the Game, these Terms or our Privacy Policy, whether based on contract, statute, tort or any other legal theory, and whether it arose before or after you agreed to these Terms ("Dispute"), will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration, and not in court, except as described in Section 17.3. The arbitrator, and not any court, will decide any question about whether a Dispute must be arbitrated, except that a court decides questions about Sections 17.5, 17.6 and 17.7. This agreement to arbitrate is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
17.3 Exceptions
Either side may instead (a) bring an individual claim in small claims court, as long as it stays there and is not brought on behalf of anyone else, or (b) ask a court for an injunction or other equitable relief to stop the infringement or misuse of intellectual property rights.
17.4 How arbitration works
Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect, as changed by these Terms. The rules and the forms for starting arbitration are available at adr.org. A single neutral arbitrator will decide the Dispute. If your claim is for US $10,000 or less, it will be decided on written submissions unless you ask for a hearing or the arbitrator decides one is needed. Any hearing will take place by video call or, if in person, in the county where you live or in Maricopa County, Arizona, as you choose. The arbitrator may award the same individual relief a court could award, but only to the individual party seeking it and only as needed for that party's individual claim. The arbitrator's decision is final, and judgment on it may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
17.5 Fees
Filing, administration and arbitrator fees will be paid as set out in the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules, under which the business pays most of those fees for consumer claims. If the arbitrator finds that a claim was frivolous or brought for an improper purpose, fees will be paid as the AAA rules provide for that case. Each side pays its own attorneys' fees and costs unless the law or the arbitrator's award says otherwise.
17.6 Class action and jury trial waiver
YOU AND SOUP DUMPLING SOFTWARE AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, PRIVATE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. UNLESS BOTH YOU AND WE AGREE, NO ARBITRATOR OR COURT MAY COMBINE MORE THAN ONE PERSON'S CLAIMS OR PRESIDE OVER ANY FORM OF CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. YOU AND WE EACH WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL.
If a court decides that any part of this Section 17.6 cannot be enforced for a particular claim or remedy, then that claim or remedy (and only that one) will be separated and decided in court, after the individual arbitration of everything else is complete, and the rest of Section 17 still applies.
17.7 Mass filings
If 25 or more similar Disputes are filed against us by or with the help of the same or coordinated lawyers or organizations, they will be handled in batches of up to 25, with one arbitrator per batch and fees assessed per batch, and the remaining cases will wait until earlier batches are decided. Any deadline to bring a claim is paused for Disputes waiting their turn. A court may enforce this Section 17.7.
17.8 Opting out
You can opt out of this agreement to arbitrate by emailing [email protected] within 30 days after you first agree to these Terms. Include your name, the email address or other contact details you use with us, and a clear statement that you want to opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms, and it does not change any earlier agreement to arbitrate you made with us.
17.9 Time limit
To the extent the law allows, any Dispute must be started within one year after it arose, or it is permanently barred.
17.10 Changes to this section
If we change this Section 17 after you have agreed to it, the change will not apply to any Dispute we were told about before the change. If we make a material change, you may reject it by emailing us within 30 days after it takes effect, and the version you last agreed to will still apply to you.
18. Governing law and courts
These Terms and any Dispute are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and by the Federal Arbitration Act for Section 17. For any Dispute that is not arbitrated, including a claim in small claims court, you and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Maricopa County, Arizona, and waive any objection to those courts.
19. Players outside the United States
If you live outside the United States, you may have rights under the consumer laws of your country that cannot be changed by contract. Nothing in these Terms takes away those rights. Where the law of your country requires it, that law applies and you may bring a claim in your local courts, and any part of these Terms that conflicts with your mandatory rights does not apply to you.
20. General terms
- Whole agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Game, and replace any earlier agreements about it.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect, except as Section 17.6 provides.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce part of these Terms, that does not mean we give up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms or your rights under them. We may transfer them, for example as part of a merger, sale of assets or reorganization.
- Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- Export laws. You agree to follow all export control and sanctions laws that apply to your use of the Game.
- Language. These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, the English version controls where the law allows.
